Environmental policy
The cement industry is working towards sustainable development, which requires a long-term vision and the focussing of companies on preserving quality of life, i.e. respecting the local and global needs of humans and the ecosystems.
Therefore, the environment is one of the most important strategic variables for Spanish cement businesses. Thus, the basic principles of their environmental policy are:
- To make cement production compatible with respect for the environment and its protection.
- To inform society of the possibilities provided by the cement industry for the handling of the waste generated in other industrial and human activities, particularly in the field of energy recovery from waste, thus contributing a safe and environmentally-friendly solution for the management of certain waste streams.
- To improve the environmental performance of manufacturing facilities through enhanced environmental management, modernizing the equipment and resources for protecting the environment.
